Cultural Practices and new technologies: challenges for the production of indicators – April 19 / São Paulo
Technological transformations, with changes in cultural consumption and the strengthening of large corporations in the digital field, become challenges for the production of indicators in the area of cultural practices. Research that turns to the study of cultural consumption has little by little incorporated communication and information technologies into their discussions, but these digital features still appear more as alternative forms of traditional practices than as new cultural habits per se. This is the case, for example, with the theoretical and methodological framework proposed by Unesco (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) for comparable measurements between countries in 2009. In this workshop, the goal is for researchers in the field of cultural consumption to exchange experiences and discuss this paradigm shift, identifying problems, opening discussions and suggesting new measurement models.
